Celebrating a congregation

There is something special about being part of a congregation. And the Carngham Uniting Church congregation is another level of something special.

The Uniting Church Australia speaks of congregation as being “a community which comes together for regular weekly worship. While each congregation is different they are united in their aim to, with God, embrace all people”. This is precisely what we do. We embrace all people. We come together in worship and to share in a common love for each other.

Today it can sometimes seem a little weird to say that you “love your neighbour” - but in a small country town we do precisely that. We look out for each other. We offer support and help where we can, and if you want to be left alone we can do that too.

There’s about 800 people in our small hamlet. That’s not very many. But almost 10 percent of them have joined our congregation - they gather in the pub, our Op Shop, in friend’s houses and of course the church itself. Our congregation is our community, and our community is our congregation.

What our tiny community wants from the church in its midst is a place of safety and acceptance. And we provide that.

In return our congregation rewards us with with their joy, their wisdom and their passion.

So thank you Carngham congregation. You are made up of stars.
